A candy bar with a sewing needle embedded inside was turned in Saturday to police, who were cautioning parents to examine Halloween treats closely before allowing their children to ingest them.
Similar tampering incidents were also reported in Clifton Park and Amsterdam.
According to Waterford Sgt. Robert M. Beyerl, the needle was found in a Snickers candy bar, which was apparently picked up in the village Thursday night.
Police, however, were still trying to narrow down the area where it may have been picked up, Beyerl said. No injuries were reported and an investigation into the tampering is continuing.
