Car park to get security guard

A security guard is to patrol a city centre car park at night toreassure motorists.

Council chiefs have brought in a security firm at Manvers Streetcar park, where - despite the fact that it is right next to Bathpolice station - drivers have expressed concerns over night-timesafety.

The car park, which reopened yesterday after a five-monthfacelift, can be a magnet for street drinkers at night because ofits sheltered lower deck and proximity to the Julian House nightshelter.

Bath and North East Somerset Council says the deployment of asecurity guard between 10pm and 6am will be kept under review in thecoming months.
