Fed: Dems leader denies party facing oblivion

CANBERRA, Feb 8 AAP - Australian Democrats leader Andrew Bartlett today rejected suggestions
that the Democrats faced oblivion at the forthcoming federal election.

Senator Bartlett said the Queensland poll - in which one Democrat candidate stood without
success - was not a reliable guide.

He said Queensland lacked an upper house where the Democrats could expect to perform better.

"We won't be wiped out. I have been around long enough to know that the Democrats'
demise has been predicted pretty much every year," he told the Seven network.
