WA: Footballer to plead not guilty to assault: lawyer

A West Australian court has been told .. Richmond AFL footballer ANDREW KRAKOUER is
likely to plead not guilty to a charge of assault.

KRAKOUER has appeared in Fremantle Magistrates Court with his brother TYRONE KRAKOUER
.. who's also charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm.

ANDREW KRAKOUER has been charged over an incident in Fremantle on Friday night .. where
JUSTIN ROBIN MARTIN sustained head injuries.

He's in Perth's Charles Gairdner Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

ANDREW KRAKOUER's lawyer JOHN PRIOR has asked for his client's next court appearance
to be on January 4 because of his footballing duties.

The Richmond player's been granted bail with a 10 thousand dollar surety and an order
not to approach Mr MARTIN.

Outside the court .. Mr MARTIN's grandmother THERESA WALLEY told reporters there could
be traditional Aboriginal pay-back against the KRAKOUERS.

The two brothers will appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court for a committal mentioning
on January 4.
