NT: Man dies in Darwin hospital after car crash last week

DARWIN, Dec 31 AAP - The national holiday road toll has risen to 46 after a man died
in hospital in the Northern Territory.

The 21-year-old crashed into a power pole when he drove his green Hyundai Excel off
the road and onto a gravel verge at Holtze, on the outskirts of Darwin, about 2.15am (CST)
on December 19.

He was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Royal Darwin Hospital where he died on Saturday,
police said.

His death takes the NT's road toll for the holiday period to four, and for the year
to 75, compared to 57 for the same time last year.

It takes the national holiday road toll to 46.
