NSW: Unions warn jobs could go off shore with energy sale
Unions NSW says privatisation of the states' energy sector could mean the loss of more
than three thousand jobs to foreign labour.
Secretary JOHN ROBERTSON says the state government is eager to buy off workers with
transfer payments .. but many of them could lose their jobs if the sale proceeds.
He says moving customer service jobs offshore could expose New South Wales energy customers
to identity fraud .. as the companies won't be regulated by Australia's strict privacy
laws.
Mr ROBERTSON says the onus is on the state government to ensure any buyer manages New
South Wales power not simply for profit .. but in the interests of working families.
